Heavy Burdens, Rejuvenation & In Persona Christi w/Fr. Anthony Sciarappa | Forte Catholic Podcast Ep 347

Father is back from vacation feeling great! He shares how Jesus' burden is light(even when it feels heavy) & answers questions about when priests are In Persona Christi, especially during Mass.

Fr. Anthony is back from a well-deserved family vacation and joins Taylor to share about the important of rejuvenation, especially for priests. He talks about how changing up the normal routine, spending time with family and simplifying life is good.

Taylor shares about a recent Sunday gospel that he struggled with. Jesus says his yoke is easy and his burden light, but it often feels heavy. He shares a hilarious experience he had with the homily that day and Fr. Anthony shares his insight into how Jesus can lighten our burdens.

Finally, Taylor has two questions about when a priest is In Persona Christi & when he isn't particularly during the Mass. What if a priest says something crazy during a homily? Is the priest as Jesus eating Jesus' body in the Eucharist. New and strange questions that we enjoyed exploring the answers to. We hope you enjoy this episode :)

The Beatitudes | Forte Catholic Podcast Ep 325

Taylor Schroll flies solo this week and shares two of his favorite reflections on this past weekend's Gospel: the Beatitudes.

Taylor Schroll flies solo this week and shares two of his favorite reflections on this past weekend's Gospel: the Beatitudes.

The first is from the homily at his parish given by Fr. Brian Eilers contrasting the themes from Jesus' famous sermon on the mount with how the world tells us to live.

The second is from a song called "Confession" by the Poor Kings. The lead singer was Taylor's HS youth minister and its a beautiful modern reflection on these ancients truths.

Our Christmas special is jammed packed this year! Jon Blevins cohosts 2 segments to discuss engagement vs. entertainment and the life lessons we learn from Santa. And as is our Christmas tradition, comedian Aaron Weber joins Taylor & Fr. Anthony. They chat about his comedy and how tall Jesus & Mary were.

Jon Blevins cohosts two segments of our Christmas special. He and Taylor hung out in person this week for only the second time ever. They chat about that & Jon's strange request. Taylor also shares his thoughts on being entertaining vs. being engaging and what that means for the Church.

Next, Fr. Anthony and Aaron Weber join Taylor on the show for what has become an annual Christmas tradition! This is the 3rd year in a row that comedian Aaron Weber has been our guest for the Christmas episode. They discuss Aaron's big year of getting married, losing a ton of weight, his first standup special and more. They also tackle the age old Christmas season question of how tall Jesus and Mary were.

Jon rejoins Taylor for the final segment to go through a list of life lessons we can learn from Santa. They're mostly silly with some good advice hidden in there. Merry Christmas from all of us here at Forte Catholic!

Forte Catholic Podcast Episode 159

Liv Harrison cohosts, Taylor turns 30, Kanye dropped a new album and Taylor once slept the guest’s bed(not as weird as it sounds.) Oscar “IIX” Rivera is a dope speaker, musician, and shares how holiness isn’t just being a carbon copy of a saint.

Taylor turned 30 this week! Liv Harrison cohosts as they discuss how looking back on the last decade brought Taylor joy.

Our guest this week is Oscar IIX Rivera. He is a youth minister, speaker and musician that Taylor has known for years because of a mutual friend but the story of them actually meeting is strange. Oscar has been influential in the Steubenville Conferences where Taylor had his conversation so they reminisce and then discuss how holiness is just being a carbon copy of a saint. Find Oscars videos, social links and more at oscartwoten.com.

In the final segment, two white people talk about Kanye's new album because that's what everyone wants, right? Enjoy!

Forte Catholic Podcast Episode 158

Fr. Anthony cohosts in what may be our fastest paced joke fest ever recorded! Our guest is recording artist Amanda Vernon to share about how God wrecked her romance and yet it all turned out great! In the final segment, Fr. Anthony shares about his homily and gets heckled.

Fr. Anthony Sciarappa cohosts in what may be our fastest paced joke fest ever recorded! We chat about our weekends including a tall hat guy, preaching to plants, angry Taylor, terrible travel and making Fr. Anthony speechless.

Our guest this week is recording artist Amanda Vernon! She's doing great work as the Catholic Alycia Keys through her music and new book "When God Wrecks Your Romance." She somehow gets Fr. Anthony to recall his dating life before the priesthood and it was beautiful to watch unfold. She is an absolute joy with a fun life story to share unlike any you've heard before. (AmandaVernon.com)

In the final segment, we check in to see if Fr. Anthony is giving any good homilies lately and Taylor gets to live the dream of what every lay person has wanted to do during homilies since the dawn of time. Enjoy as you live vicariously though Taylor.

Forte Catholic Podcast Episode 109

Fr. Anthony co-hosts as we talk keeping things simple, humility and why truths stand the test of time. We’re also rejoined by the coolest monk you’ve ever heard of, Fr. Augustine Wetta, to discuss his new fantasy novel about Odysseus traveling through Dante’s Inferno.

Fr. Anthony Sciarappa co-hosts(WHAT!?!?!) as we talk about what Taylor learned about keeping things simple from the high school students he was on retreat with this weekend. (The students may or may not have been a little comically confused)

In the second segment, we are joined by a listener favorite Fr. Augustine Wetta. He rejoins the show(from his high school classroom with actual students in it) to talk about his new novel "The Eighth Arrow" which explores what it would be like if Odysseus from the Odyssey was in Dante's Inferno. The book is a thoroughly entertaining jailbreak story, full of allusions to great works of old and the lessons contained. A segment with the monk who breaks all monk stereotypes is always entertaining.

In the final segment, Taylor and Fr. Anthony bring back the "Mass Text" segment to revisit this past Sunday's readings, see how Father's homily went, discuss being bad at humility & why truths survive the test of time.
